Section A Scenario 1

Work From Home Policy

There is a presence of emotional intelligence in Michael's decision to enact a work-from-

home policy without the input of senior leaders aside from the CEO. As the newly appointed

senior vice president of HR, he used the authority in his position to make a decision that

benefits the company and its employees. He did so after assessing Corollary Communications’

present situation while examining documentation and policies and did not require the input of

the senior leaders. He was confident in his decision, sharing it with the CEO and explaining that

concerns from other leaders were issues that could be managed. In instituting the policy, he

sought feedback from the manager, again demonstrating a proper use of his authority.
