The united states Political Analysis voting preferences among candidates of

different gender

#Q1

Contingency table 1. Voting preferences among the different gender.

Gender (dependent variable)

Presidential candidate Men (percentage) Women (percentage)

(independent variable)

Barack Obama 50.9 56.1

Mitt Romney 49.1 43.9

Total 2015 2173

The relationship between the sex of the respondent and the presidential preferences, in

my opinion, varies from men to women. According to the statistics, a higher percentage of

women preferred Romney over Obama, while most men preferred Obama over Romney. This

means that more men preferred the Republican while women preferred the Democrats. If the

population of men were higher than women, therefore the Romney would have been the

president-elect. The data shows that Romney gathered more votes than Obama, which in reality

was different because Obama won the election. Gender voting choice plays a fundamental role in

the presidential elections.

According to the data, it fails to support hypotheses because most of their vote went to

the Democratic candidate Barrack Obama. No, men are not showing higher tendencies to vote

for the Republican candidate because their voting choices appears to be balanced between the

Republican and the Democratic candidates. Women showed a higher tendency to support Obama
