Introduction

Frankenstein was a novel by Mary Shelley, with its original setting being based in

Switzerland, where Shelly was living. The novel revolves around Europe's segments and the

globe, where Frankenstein visits Scotland, France, Germany, and England. Mary Shelley focused

on exploring various themes throughout the novel, such as family, nature, ambition, ethnicity,

gender, which mainly contributed to the success that has made her remain relevant to date

(Cambra-Bidii, Elena & Joseph-E, p. 2704). Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is thus informative

literature that will enlighten on the course required readings to bring out the bigger picture of the

depictions insinuated by these requirements. Therefore, this essay's primary purpose would be to

explore how Frankenstein has remained relevant after two hundred years by reviewing various

scholars' research and analysis on multiple themes and ideologies.

Frankenstein Plot Analysis

It is critically important to understand what the novel is all about before exploring

scholarly literature. Frankenstein Victor has a significant conflict revolving around the inability

of Victor to understand the consequences of his actions. Though Victor is solely focused on his

main goals, he fails to articulate how his actions might impact other people, which brings the

idea of the monster's roles in reminding Victor of his responsibilities and the repercussions to

nature. Conflict is evident when Victor left his fiancée and family to study at Ingolstadt

University. This gets worse when he successfully discovers life and generational causes that lead

to his obsession with creating a monster. He does this with no considerations of how the created

monster would turn out to be and forgets his family to remain focused on his work. Victor's

reckless quest of creating a live monster serves as the rising action at its peak immediately after

the monster's animation. His horror reactions and disgust cause him to run outside the room,
