Abstract
Ambulatory care services comprise medical procedures done within the same day,
excluding admission of the patients. It encompasses wellness, treatment, diagnosis, and
rehabilitation services to patients. Lack of specialized ambulatory care services in any hospital
setting limits the healthcare facility from providing patients with inclusive care services while
increasing Medicare costs while risking its reputation. Adhering to the code of conduct should be
the primary considerations of any facility, which has internal and external implications. The
researcher considered the situational analysis and the ethical considerations to make informed
recommendations that will be effective and efficient to the facility in improving these specialized
services.
Introduction
In contemporary health care facilities, economic reasons have contributed significantly to
the expansion of ambulatory care services, which is aimed at reducing the number of days a
patient gets to spend at the hospital (Bahadori et al., 2017). This is mainly because the
outpatient’s paradigms show that visits in this healthcare department have increased, leading to
ward overcrowding, consequently causing poor access to these services, appointment difficulties,
practitioners and patients’ dissatisfaction, and extended waiting times (Hansen et al., 2017). This
reason has enhanced the need to provide more ambulatory services than those in inpatient
departments (Bahadori et al., 2017). This means that any mobile care services have to be
specialized in a way possible to address the intriguing pressure that faces the facility. During the
interview with the occupational therapist, a lack of specialized ambulatory care services was
identified, contributing significantly to the organizational weaknesses and threats. Based on
