Critical Thinking Critical thinking is the ability to reason between ideas and thoughts, which helps determine the best possible situation. A person uses high-functioning reasoning to weigh out the pros and cons of an idea or situation before deciding. Critical thinking is not an impulsive decision, but one that is deliberated. According to Facione & Gittens (2016), critical thinking the process of purposeful, self-regulatory judgment. Critical thinking is developed by interpreting information for better understanding without siding with the opinion of family and friends.
