en waarden. EUR-Lex is de officiële EU-website waar je verdragen, wetgeving en
uitspraken van het Hof van Justitie van de EU (CJEU) kunt vinden. De EU mag
alleen handelen binnen haar bevoegdheden, op basis van de beginselen toedeling
(conferral), subsidiariteit en proportionaliteit. Er zijn exclusieve, gedeelde en
ondersteunende bevoegdheden, die bepalen wat de EU en de lidstaten mogen
doen. De EU heeft zeven officiële instellingen, zoals het Europees Parlement, de
Europese Commissie en het CJEU, elk met een eigen rol. Artikel 7 VEU kan
worden gebruikt bij ernstige schendingen van EU-waarden zoals democratie en
mensenrechten. De besproken zaak ging over een Italiaanse burger in Duitsland die
