BUS511: Organizational Theory and Behavior- Written Assignment Unit 2 The assignment is based on selecting three factors and listing down the attitudes, perceptions, and behaviors that are positively or negatively impacted by them. The factor selected for analysis in this assessment are stereotypes, discrimination, and the halo effect. 1. Stereotypes: Stereotypes in the workplace means that we assume about people based on their gender, culture, and religious and physical attributes. Some people do this intentionally and some intentionally. Some try to hurt people's feelings and create a work environment in which people are discriminated against. Stereotypes are common in many workplaces that have a negative impact on the overall workplace environment (Ellemers, 2018). Effect on the individual: If people are happy at work, feel secure and respected, they will perform better. Their productivity will be good, and the more likely environment will also be good. The satisfaction level will be higher, and they will create more solutions to every problem. In an organization, it is very important to have a friendly and good environment. Stereotyping makes the efficiency and productivity of employees go low with a low retention rate. Individuals often leave the organization due to such issues that negatively harm them (Hoyt and Murphy, 2016). Negative effect: If the stereotype will be harassing, the work environment becomes negative and contaminated. People will not join such an organization that has a negative environment.
