 na’s didn’t pay tax, so the act authorised federal
government giving funds to the schools to pay for the na’s
tax so they didn’t have to go to on-off reservation schools
oklahoma indian welfare act 1936
 extended the ira 1934 to oklahoma tribes, who were
previously excluded at their request
 they saw the benefits of having a tribal government
