• Base of radial styloid process

Innervation:
• Radial nerve

Action:
• Synergist flexor (forearm flexion when
semi-pronated)

Origin:
• Lateral supracondylar ridge

Insertion:
• Base of the 2nd metacarpal (dorsal
surface)

Innervation:
• Radial nerve

Action:
• Extends & abducts the wrist

EXTENSOR CARPI RADIALIS BREVIS Posterior superficial forearm muscle

Origin:
• Lateral epicondyle

Insertion:
• Base of the 3rd metacarpal

Innervation:
• Deep branch of the Radial Nerve

Action:
• Extends & abducts the wrist

• Extend the wrist

• Lateral epicondyle

Insertion:
• Extensor hood of 5th digit

Innervation:
• Posterior interosseous nerve

Action:
• Extension of the 5th finger
metacarpophalangeal joint (MCP)
• Extension of the wrist
