A. Analyze the internal organizational aspects of the company from
the scenario by doing the following:
A1. The organizational culture of the company is a clan company
structure. The company gives decision making power to all employees
by making them all an equal in the decision making process. This is an
advantage because it creates a sense of unity and family. Clan culture is
ideal for companies with a strong societal mission, because this
company structure encourages collaboration and that is beneficial to a
company with a vision statement of “We will be the most sustainable
company in the industry.”. One major disadvantage of a clan structure is
the potential for difficulty in making tough decisions due to the lack of
hierarchy within the company.
A2. The company is organized in a team-based decentralized structure.
There are both advantages and disadvantages to this type of structure. A
team-based structure has less hierarchy which allows for better
coordination and more flexibility between employees, but this could also
create less organizational consistency and be a disadvantage. The
company’s team-based structure allows an openness to organizational
change which is an advantage and stems from the flexibility that is created
using this type of structure. A possible major disadvantage is an unrealized
redundancy due to the decentralized nature of the structure.
A3.
a. organizational culture
The company's clan organizational culture will affect the decision
making process in a few ways. Step three, generating solutions is
the most notable step in the process that benefits from a clan
culture. There is little hierarchy in this type of culture and
everyone’s ideas are equal. The incentive program for ideas will
help to generate plenty of solutions to any problem, giving the
company ample options to compare and evaluate. The clan culture

, could also be useful in evaluating the results of the solution
implemented, a company wide survey could be sent out to see
how the selected solution is working.
b. organizational structure
The company's decentralized team-based organizational structure
could have both benefits and drawbacks during the decision
making process. Step five, deciding on an appropriate solution,
could be difficult because there is no set hierarchy and all
decisions are evaluated by all employees. The decentralized
organizational structure is beneficial when trying to define the
problem, because the teams are not centralized there will be
different angles seen of each problem, potentially giving a better
definition of the problem. This would lead to a better solution.
c. mission and vision statements
The company's mission and vision statement will affect every step
in the decision making process. It is an integral part of the
company's values of sustainability and customer focus, and should
be considered in every step of the decision making process. It is
especially important to consider both of these statements when
coming up with and implementing solutions.
d. ethical statement
The company’s ethical statement will also greatly affect every step
of the decision making process. It specifically references making
decisions that are best for not only the customers but also the
environment. The ethical statement should be used to guide every
step of the process.
B. Discuss innovations to the company’s product from the scenario
by doing the following:
B1. Emerging market characteristic #1: Preserving the natural
ecosystem is important to the Indian government. The National Fisheries
Development Board(NFDB) supports the use of non motorized boats,
and is also concerned with the amount of plastic in their landfills.
