When looking at the curriculum map for West Oak Cove Elementary, there
are 28 standards given for the teachers to spend the year teaching. For the
most part, the curriculum covers most of the standards. So, it does align
pretty close. After the mapping is done though, it showed that out of the 28
standards, there are 2 that are not taught in the curriculum. The standards
4.NF.B.4a and 4.NF.B.4b are the ones that are not taught. They are found in
the in the Numbers and Operations – Fractions domain. Both standards are
based around working on multiplying fractions with a whole number. Out of
the standards that are based around fractions, these are the only two that
multiply them and they aren’t even taught.
The schools report card gives data of the students’ performance on the
given standards. The students are underperforming in the different math
domains. While the numbers of proficient students are low in all areas, the
Operations and Algebraic Thinking domain scored the highest with 27.2% of
students showing proficient. When looking at the amount of time students
are spending on standards, the standard that the students spend the most
time in is in this domain. The lowest scoring area is the Measurement and
Data domain. This is also the domain that has the least amount of time spent
on it. Only 17.9% of students are showing proficiency. The report card also
