P3 & P4:

The heart and blood of the circulatory system changes to the same circle of activity in a few
different ways including Cardiac hypertrophy, Increase in stroke volume, increase in cardiac
output, Decrease in resting heart rate, Capillarisation, Increase in blood volume, Reduction
in resting blood pressure, Decreased recovery time and Increased aerobic fitness. All these
types of activity belong under the cardiovascular system.

Cardiac Hypertrophy:

Long term exercises help our heart to expand in strength alongside other muscles. The heart
becomes stronger because of exercise we take part in. The left ventricle thickens, causing
an increase in strength of the heart's contractions.Because of this, more blood is pumped
around the body per heart beat which is known as increase in stroke volume. The expansion
in cardiac hypertrophy means that muscle can be supplied with more blood, oxygen and
nutrients while taking part in the sports.

Cardiac hypertrophy is important for athletes in many sports. Football players have to be
long-lasting, in order to last the whole duration of the match. Cardiac Hypertrophy will give
more oxygen and nutrients to the working muscles which will increase muscular
contractions. Because of this the players will be able to run faster, longer and tackle the
opponents more effectively when needed.

Increase in stroke volume:

Stroke volume also known as (SV) is the amount of the blood that is pumped from one
ventricle of the heart with each beat.
Stroke volume when resting is known to be higher after an extended endurance training
workout. The muscles in our body are then supplied with more blood per minute known as
Cardiac Output during the highest levels of exercise. Due to this, the delivery of oxygen and
nutrients is provided more efficiently to the working muscles, allowing them to further
contract with greater force when training.

Increase in cardiac output:

Cardiac output is the volume of blood that is being pumped by the heart in 1 minute. Cardiac
output levels grow during long term exercise, because of an increase in stroke volume. Both
stroke volume and cardiac output are enlarged because of the increase in cardiac
hypertrophy. As we get older, the maximum cardiac levels start to reduce because of a
decrease in the maximum heart rate.
