They came in just prior to Brian Poole and The Tremlows, another group who producer Dick Rowe chose instead of the Beatles. Given the Beatles were simply not going to make it. One of the factors involved in Dick Rowe's decision was probably kicked himself innumerable times since that point. One of the factors in his decision was that he couldn't tell who the real leader was. Was it Paul? Was it John? He also believed that perhaps guitar-based groups were out.
