1. Introduction
Ermelo Mpumalanga`s questionable service delivery
Ermelo is a small town situated on the Highveld of Mpumalanga. It is also the
commercial industrial and educational town of the 7,750 km 2. Gert Sibande
district municipality in the Mpumalanga province, Republic of South Africa.
Ermelo is a central point for connecting areas around Ermelo for example
Volksrust, Morgenzon, Piet Retief, Bethal and many others whereby makes it
an ideal place to find what you are looking for. It is both a mixed agriculture
and mining region. People would call Ermelo a district where comprehensive
mixed farming is practised and as I heard people calling it a “plaas dorpie”
which translates to a small farming town. Never the less Ermelo is expanding
and attracting all sorts of investors and is slowly becoming bigger and better
although there are only roughly 90 000 people living in Ermelo the numbers
are rising which means more expansion. It is an area both for housing and
business whereby I would say it is about a 50/50 %, also boasting with good
schools and businesses.
2. Location
The area of Ermelo is located in Mpumalanga, South Africa, 210km East of
Johannesburg with the GPS coordinates of- Latitude:26.5333 and Longitude:
29.9833. Ermelo consists of lower-middle and upper class living suburbs
ranging from shacks to classy urban houses like large estates, townhouses,
big houses, right down to small locations in the outer skirts. There are plenty
of shops on the main street of Ermelo which provides easy access to just
about anyone living anywhere around Ermelo. It also has hospitals and clinics
as well as schools.
