economy was good at the time, so people had time for entertainment. Also, there was more money for
formal education. Latin disappeared as a written language but stayed in schools because it was still used

communication. But because Latin was so widely used in so many countries and was kept alive by the
church for so long, it held on as being relevant in schools because of its long history. Also, Latin was still
used as a way of higher classes to communicate with each other.
