Soviets wanted Eastern Europe to be under it's influence to balance western aggression, caused creation of the Soviet Block What formal alliances were created because of the Cold War? Warsaw pact (1955) a miltaristic, mutual defense treaty of soviet block; The North Adlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) (1949) same thing, but for western nations like British and U.S. (ways U.S. and S.U. sought to maintain influence over cource of Cold War) Why did the actions of the S.U. in Eastern Europe lead to the Cold War? Because U.S. feared spread of communism, which was occuring across Eastern Europe. Communism goal was to spread across the whole world. U.S. was deeply influenced by democracy and capitalism, which had the same goal to spread across the world (Context of war after 1945 explanation)
