Define lipids
Chemical nature of lipids
lipids is the collective name for variety of organic compounds such as
fats, oils, waxes and fat like molecules ( steroids) found in the body.
Lipids cannot be defined precisely because their chemistry is so
variable, but we can say that true lipids are formed by condensation
reactions between fatty acids and glycerol.
Therefore, it is defined as a heterogeneous group of organic
compounds. Which are insoluble in water ( hydrophobic ) mostly
made up of non polar C-H bonds ( hydrocarbon) but soluble in
organic solvent such as acetone, alcohol, and other etc.
