Introduction

Obesity has globally been considered as one of the most essential public health problems

in the 21st century. World health organization found that in 2014, there was more than 1.9 billion

obese adults, 41 million children below the age of 5 were found to be overweight (Safaei et al,

2021). Overweight is designated by a systematic low-grade inflammation and an increased body

mass index. Higher amount of energy, specifically sugars and fats that fails to burn through body

exercises and relevant physical exercises which are more of the surplus energy stored in the body

as fat. In addition, being overweight is associated with the development of type 2 diabetes and

with non-alcoholic and cardiovascular fatty liver disease risks (Csige et al, 2018). There is a

considerate number of causes and effects of obesity that are spontaneously reversible or with

treatment.

Causes of Obesity

Unhealthy Diet and Eating Habits

Majority of people around the world have developed a behaviour of overindulging in

unhealthy diet and eating habits without nutritional concerns. Nowadays, most of the food outlets

that are opened are getting more and more popular globally. Fast foods are diets with higher

number of calories and fats which consequently raises bad cholesterol leading to conditions such

as heart attacks or any other cardiovascular diseases (Bora, 2016). Examples of such foods are

French fries and cheese. Intake of canned food and drinking too much alcohol or sugary drinks

also contributes to overweight, as they contain high value sugars and fats. Developing

comfortability habits when eating and eating in large portions are the major cause of this

condition because much of these foods are not completely digested, which is a negative effect in
