A. Discuss the need for change for the company in the scenario using either the systems
contingency model or the organizational life cycle model.
The system contingency model is the analysis of practices adopted by the company to see
how effective those practices are in the success of the business. There are no right or wrong
practices that the company can use to compute their success; the purpose of this model is to
determine what has or has not been the most effective and which practices may or may not need
to be updated to adapt appropriately. Within the input phase, the company can change their top-
down management approach to an approach that gives its employees more of a voice and a larger
investment in the company’s growth because they are more involved in decision making. With
the change in leadership type, the transformation phase will be impacted next; this means that the
culture and the structure of the company can be affected. Since the company is used to having
management make the decisions the culture of the company is negative and stale and the
structure is stiff and secluded, but with the change in management, the culture and structure
become more positive and integrated. For the output phase, once these changes are implemented,
the company will begin to see an increase in employee satisfaction because the employees will
feel like they are seen, heard, and appreciated. With the increase in satisfaction, there will also be
an increase in performance within the employees.
With the system contingency model implemented, the company will be able to continue their
revenue growth, but now, the company will also be able to increase the morale of the employees
and adapt their new practices to grow their competitiveness amongst other companies and
increase their corporate social responsibility.
