How to remove a face mask - ANS 1. Remove mask at doorway of patient room, UNLESS
wearing a respirator mask...then remove it AFTER leaving room and closing door.
2. If using a mask with strings, untie lower strings first. This prevents top part of mask from
falling onto chest.
3. Untie top strings and remove from face. DO NOT touch front of mask b/c it is contaminated.
4. Discard mask in waste container.
5. Perform hand hygiene.
