Cell division is the process by which one parent cell divides to form new daughter cells. It is important for growth, development, repair, and reproduction.

The cell cycle mainly has two parts:

Interphase – The cell grows and prepares for division. It includes G₁, S, and G₂ phases. DNA is duplicated during the S phase.

M phase – The cell undergoes division:

Prophase: Chromosomes condense and the spindle forms.
