This essay explores the various ways political socialisation takes place, the different models of political socialisation and how individuals and society develop their own understanding of the political environment. It also explains how the political socialisation among the youth in South Africa has not evolved as much as one would expect due to similar levels of hardship older generations had to face.

This essay studies the academic theory of political socialisation and its application on both a global scale and for contemporary South African youth.
