The same type of safety pin has been used for generations unlike some
things, let's take the phone for example the structure and form of the phone has completely
changed over the past 150-200 years. however, the safety pin hasn't changed for 100-150
years.
Why is the reason?
The safety pin remains the same when numerous other things don’t is because there hasn’t
been a simpler option come to the market yet whereas phones at the time, they come out were
as simple as you could have them but then people started working on them and came up with
better designs, functionalities and more things. The case of the safety pin is that no one could
come up with a better simpler design which will meet the same purpose of its use.

If you look at any product in the market you will be able to see two important aspects, one is
the purpose of the product which we call the function of the product this means what is the
product doing let's take the printer for example if you look back 50 years it is doing the same
thing maybe a few features have been added but overall, it has the same output, that means
that its function is the same. Let's look at the phone now 100 years ago it looked very different
but the form has changed, form is the second important aspect of any product in the market
the form and function are the core of any product. So, the function is what the product is
supposed to do and the form is how is it able to that or where can things change in technology,
appearance, color whatever it is. So, a design is actually looking at a function of a product and
finding a form to satisfy that function if you can actually match these two things together than
you have a new product
