(UPSC)
Introduction

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is the central recruiting body of India
responsible for selecting candidates for various Group A and Group B services of the
Government of India.​
It is an independent constitutional body established under Article 315.




Constitutional Provision
●​ Mentioned in Part XIV (Services under the Union and the States).
●​ Articles 315 to 323 deal with UPSC.
●​ It is autonomous and free from government interference.




Composition
●​ UPSC consists of a Chairman and other members.
●​ The President of India appoints all members.
●​ The number of members is decided by the President.




Tenure
●​ Members serve for 6 years or till they reach 65 years of age, whichever is earlier.
●​ They can resign at any time by writing to the President.
●​ They can be removed only on grounds of misconduct after an inquiry by the
Supreme Court.
