Wat is geheugen en hoe kunnen we het bestuderen?
Geheugen is meer dan één globaal systeem, het is veel complexer. Er zijn veel
verschillende theorieën over hoe het geheugen in elkaar steekt en allen zijn ze relevant op hun
eigen manier. Ze hebben allemaal een kern van waarheid, maar wss is er niet één helemaal
correct. Deze houding vormt een constrast met wat ook wel reductionisme genoemd wordt:
een houding waarbij het doel van wetenschap is om elke verklaring te reduceren tot er een
fysiolgische verklaring gevonden wordt die vervolgens biochemisch en uiteindelijk
natuurkundig verklaard kan worden.
