I) preconceptual:before getting pregnant→preparation

2) antepartum/prenatal: during pregnancy → already pregnant

3)intrapartum: during labor and delivery /birth

4)postpartum: after birth until the perpuerium(six weeks after delivery)




Goals focus/ outcome- criteria plan→ health promotion and disease prevention


Nursing process:
I) Assessment- collection of subjective and objective data




2) Diagnosis: (nursing)-The problem risk for a problem - use (NANDA)


3) Plan-Goal to solve the problem (SMART)




4) Implementation: putting goals into actions/nursing action


- Evidence Base Practice -
5) Evaluation: monitoring the fulfilling of outcomes as well as monitoring the patient
therapeutic eff. ect response-modify & assess or needed change




6) Documenation: proof - communication for hand off-that something was done.

Sex,ejaculation, male/femalevagina sex
Fertilization = antipartum/prenatal


Female pregnancy:
1) Vagina- MUSCULAR (can stretch to accommodate fetus during delivery)
Stretch for intercourse
Internal of the body
Intrapartum - labor & delivery


2) Perineum: MUSCULAR area between the Vaginal opening and the anus
*Laceration -tear occurs during labor (when baby is too big)
* Incision- episiotomy -> surgical procedure


3) Uterus - MUSCULAR & HOLLOW- Site of implantation
(can stretch to accommodate the growing fetus)
Fundus- top • Fundus ascends (goes up)
at a rate of 1cm/ week
Corpus- body (measure from the top of the
fundus to symphysis pubis).
Cervix- bottom




5) Fallopian tubes: Site of fertilization — does NOT stretch !
6) Pelvis: Bone —does NOT stretch! widens to make room for L&D
