Plot. Tell in a few sentences what happens in the story and how it ends.
The book starts with a flash forward of Theo, a Jewish boy from North London, who
is staying in Amsterdam for a while. He and his friends find out that their friend Kitty,
also a Jewish girl from London with who he had a row last night, is missing. They go
searching for her, but she is no where to find. Theo blames himself for it.
At chapter 4 we go back in time to Kitty in London. Kitty dreams of a perfect life, but
that is impossible for her in London, where she and her mum are haunted by her
father’s unexpected death caused by a heart attack. Kitty herself does also got some
troubles with her heart and is known as ‘the girl that can drop dead every second’.
Kitty’s mum suggests to move to Amsterdam, where they can stay with a friend of
hers, Paul, and his son Ethan for a while to start a new life.
Kitty agrees with this idea. In Amsterdam she meets Theo and her sort of brother,
Ethan. Two boys with each their own secrets. She starts a ‘nothing serious’
relationship with Theo while she still having doubts about her feelings for Ethan.
After a while she is sure, In a beautiful city, far from her home in London, Kitty finds
herself falling in love for the very first time with Theo.
Theo is sent to London by his father, because people were gossiping about him
dating his teacher, Sophie. His father said that this will have a bad influence on their
family and the health of his ill mother. He says Theo that it is better if he stayed away
for a while. In Amsterdam, Theo can’t stop thinking about this Sophie, until he meets
Kitty and develops feelings towards her. But mostly, she is just a distraction for him.
When Theo’s older girlfriend Sophie comes to visit him in Amsterdam and tells him
they are over, his heart breaks and he doesn’t know what to do. He finds himself
