, Platins - ANS Alkylating agents. interfere with DNA replication/RNA transcription & nucleic
acid fx! Cell cycle non specific.
Emergencies - ANS Oncology
Vesicants - ANS Doxorubicin, nitrogen mustard, mitomycin
DNA binding vesicants - ANS Anthracyclines, doxorubicin, nitrogen mustard and mitomycin.
Bind to nucleus acids of DNA in healthy cells causing cell death. This causes the cells to release
extra cellular substances that get taken up early by cells. As it remains & circulates the cycle
continues.
Non-DNAbindind vesicants - ANS Does not bind to DNA but has an indirect effect on healthy
cells. Resolve more easily. plAnt alkaloids and paclitaxol.
Cytokines/Cyclophosphamide - ANS Alkylating agent. For breast, NHL, ,CLL, sarcoma,
rhabdosarcoma, neuroblastoma, Wilma's tumor. Encourage fluid intake and empty bladder
frequently x24 Hrs. s/e decreased WBC, N/V, hair loss, nail changes, TLS, hemorrhagic cystitis,
H/A, mylelosuppression
Cytaribine/Area-C - ANS Antimetabolite. S/e: photosensitivity, myelosuppression, Hi toxic,
hand & foot syndrome, TLS
Dacarbazine(DTIC) - ANS Vesicant. Given for melanoma, Hodgkin, soft-tissue sarcomas,
neoroblastoma. S/e decreased WNC & PLTs, N/V, CNS toxicity, photosensitivity.
Daunorubicin(Anthracycline) - ANS Vesicant. Can cause permanent cardiotoxicity, cumulative
dose 550mg/m2. Turns urine red. N/V, mouth sores, hair loss.
Docetaxel(Taxotete) - ANS Vesicant. Tx for Breast, NSCLC, prostate, H& N, ovarian, bladder.
Contains alcohol. S/e: decreased WBC & PLT, RBCs, fluid retention, rash, nail changes, slope is,
