ACOM Interview Prep Questions AND Correct Answers
Describe a time when you had to deliver difficult news. -
✔✔Throughout my undergraduate career, I worked as a manager in a
local cafe. During this time, I had to deliver difficult news a handful of
times. One specific occasion that stood out to me the most is that of
letting an employee go. B, was a line cook that we had recently hired
after he moved to Lutz from Cuba to make money and provide for his
family. Later, we found out that B was still in the process of obtaining
his green card and had not yet been given permission to work in the
U.S. This was quite difficult as B proved to be an excellent employee.
it was really difficult, because we wanted he was a great employee.
Our company understood that it was against the law to have someone
working without the green card and we understood that we have to
follow that law. So even though he had a lot writing on this job and
was really trying to help out his family. We had to kind of deliver the
news that we would have to wait on hiring him until it was obtained.

Do you have any questions for me? - ✔✔- I honestly would be really
interested to hear more about your research?
- What brought you to ACOM and what has kept your here?
- What advice would you give yourself if you were just starting out in
your career?

How would you describe yourself in one word? - ✔✔I would probably
have to say resilient would be the word I would use to describe
myself. As someone with a mother who suffers from bipolar type 2
disorder and is afflicted with alcoholism I feel that I developed this

, characteristic at a young age. I cam out of my childhood stronger
because of this experience and feel that this resilience has carried me
throughout my career thus far. Further, going through a global
pandemic right in the middle of my undergraduate education was
really a trying time. Despite having taken a few online classes prior,
initially, I was not prepared to become a completely online learner.
This proved to be a challenge with the more difficult courses, such as
biochemistry. I ended finding new study strategies and found myself
adapting each semester and ended up graduating with honors.
Following graduation I was faced with an MCAT score that I was not
proud of as I felt it did not reflect my full capabilities. Though I was
upset that I wouldn't be able to apply that cycle, I made sure that I got
a tutor who helped develop my score, and I really put the time and set
aside time in my schedule to make sure that I would get the score was
reflective of my capabilities, and took this time to complete clinical
experiences I was unable to do during the pandemic such as
shadowing and obtaining a clinical position. Collectively, I truly feel
that these experiences are what makes me a resilient person. I have
learned that resilience is not built in a moment, but is built by moving
forward.

Name a time when you faced an ethical dilemma? - ✔✔Working in a
pain management clinic, one of the main motivators of the providers
is to make ethically sound decisions. There have been a few occasions
when a patient calls and states they have run out of their medications
early because they have taken it more frequently than prescribed. In
this case, the right thing to do is to say I need to talk to the doctor and
evaluate the situation further. On one hand, I can sympathize with the
patient as they are still in pain and I want to believe and trust them. I
