ASSIGNMENT 7 (PORTFOLIO)
DUE 17 October 2025
TASK 1: SELF-MANAGEMENT AND SELF-DEVELOPMENT
1. Description of Experience
This academic year in CAS3701 was both challenging and rewarding. The module required
active participation in webinars, consistent completion of individual and group tasks, and
preparation of the portfolio, all of which demanded effective planning and self-management. At
the start, I struggled to balance CAS3701 tasks with other modules and personal commitments.
This often led to stress and last-minute completion of tasks. However, as I engaged more with
the module, I implemented strategies to organise my workload, prioritise tasks, and meet
deadlines. For instance, I created a weekly timetable that allocated specific hours to CAS3701
tasks, ensuring that both individual and group responsibilities were managed effectively. These
experiences shaped my learning journey and strengthened my personal accountability.
2. Feelings
Initially, I felt overwhelmed and anxious due to the workload and fear of missing deadlines.
Participating in group assessments and preparing the portfolio added pressure, and I
sometimes doubted my ability to manage effectively. However, as I adopted structured study
and time-management strategies, my confidence grew. I began to feel motivated and proud
when I submitted tasks ahead of deadlines and contributed meaningfully in group discussions.
These positive emotions encouraged me to seek support when necessary and maintain
discipline in my study routine.
3. Evaluation
Several aspects went well. I communicated consistently with group members and completed all
individual tasks on time. Attending webinars enhanced my understanding of module content and
, enabled active participation in group work. However, I experienced stress during peak periods
and occasionally underestimated the time required for portfolio tasks. Implementing a weekly
planner helped me allocate study hours efficiently, and stress management improved through
short breaks, exercise, and mindfulness. Overall, my time management, stress management,
and goal-setting strategies improved during the semester, though I acknowledge the need for
continued refinement during busy periods.
4. Analysis (SMART Goal Setting)
To strengthen my self-management, I set the following SMART goal:
• Specific: Submit CAS3701 assignments at least two days before the deadline.
• Measurable: Track submission dates in a weekly planner.
• Achievable: Dedicate two hours daily to CAS3701 tasks and an extra hour on
weekends.
• Relevant: Timely submission reduces stress and ensures high-quality work.
• Time-bound: Maintain this routine throughout the semester.
Following this goal allowed me to submit all tasks on time and reduce stress. Using the SMART
framework helped structure my actions and maintain focus (Doran, 1981). Additionally, applying
Gibbs’ reflective cycle enabled me to evaluate my progress and adjust strategies effectively
(Gibbs, 1988).
5. Analysis of Growth
Through CAS3701, I developed greater self-discipline, accountability, and reflective practice. I
learned to prioritise tasks, manage time efficiently, and contribute actively to group work. I
became more confident in planning, monitoring, and adjusting my efforts to achieve goals. This
growth extends beyond academics: I am now more organised, proactive, and resilient, capable
of handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Regular reflection on my experiences
improved my self-awareness and highlighted the importance of structured planning for both
personal and professional development.
