https://www.epocrates.com/online/results?query=lisinopril
 Cite the name of the medicine you will prescribe and its MOA: X/9
Lisinopril: Reduces PVR without increasing cardiac output, heart rate, or contractibility;
blocks ACE, which converts angiotensin I to angiotensin II; prevents breakdown of
bradykinin, which increases NO and prostacyclin from vessels; NO and prostacyclin are
potent vasodilators of the arterioles and veins; By reducing levels of angiotensin II,
aldosterone levels are decreased, as is Na+ and water retention; ACEI reduce cardiac
preload and afterload

 If there was data from the patient’s history or exam that was relevant to choosing X/1
this agent, cite those here:
Jason has a 10+ year history of type 2 diabetes and 1+ proteinuria was present on
urinalysis which indicates early diabetic nephropathy. His BP was 145/85, which is not at
target on current medication amlodipine. ACE inhibitors are first-line agents for renal
protection in patients with diabetes, especially when proteinuria is present. They have been
proven to reduce intraglomerular pressure, decrease proteinuria, and slow progression of
kidney disease.
