CC (chief complaint):
The patients are 40 and 23 years respectively and present to the facility for evaluation. The two
patients are related by blood since it’s a mother/daughter case. The daughter complains that her
mother expects so much from her and thus ‘sits all day waiting for things to be done. On the
other hand, the mother contends that she is in pain after undergoing surgery and thus would
expect to be assisted by her daughter.
HPI:
The two patients are of Iran origin but currently residing in the United States. The
daughter complains that the mother expects a lot from her; thus, she feels that her mom is
holding her back from what she could be doing. The mother migrated to the United States after
divorcing her husband and left her 23-year-old daughter under his custody. Therefore she is
struggling from trauma associated with her abusive marriage and still struggling to align her
Iranian culture with that of America. Therefore, despite trauma-related problems, the mother also
suffers from adjustment-related disorders.
On the other hand, the daughter alleges that her biological father physically and sexually
assaulted her. Therefore, she occasionally suffers traumatic episodes associated with this
experience. After relocating to the United States, the duo has also experienced significant
