Is it necessary for humans to develop the
economy?

The impact of environmental degradation on society is being noticed by some developed and
developing countries around the world. Indeed, there is a little doubt that the adverse
consequences which humans need to take responsibility for environmental destruction and
economic growth. But the act of developing economic growth is damaging the environment we
are in charge of, still continue. However, the calls for end the economic growth because of
environmental protection and poverty reduction seem a little unrealistic, it is the important
achievement countries should strive forwards. This essay will begin by analyzing economic
growth related to poverty and the environment. It then goes on to discuss economic progress
which is considered to be successful in a specific country, China. This essay will be discussed
mainly in terms of economics, environment, and poverty.

One of the main arguments is economic growth does not contribute to poverty reduction as
well as environmental protection. In terms of solving the poverty issue, according to Liyanage
(2013), some proofs are shown to economic growth in positive reference to poverty, or income
inequality. Typical examples often used as evidence are growth in developing countries of East
Asia (Brunei, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thai Lan, and
Viet Nam) which is increasingly significant, with an average GDP per capita growth rate of 6% in
2007. Nevertheless, in East Asia, poverty is still a serious problem. (Liyanage, 2013). Also, from
environmentalists’ perspective from over 150 countries, economic growth is the main reason
for the global warming phenomenon because of the overusing of materials and ecosystems
destruction.

Conversely, Dollar (2016) argued that economic growth is of fundamental importance for
poverty reduction through his recent research with the title” “Growth Still is Good for the
Poor”. In many countries around the world, Dollar (2016) confirmed again that the dramatic
decline in poverty has connected with rapid growth, which he proved through dataset
spanning. In terms of environmental conservation, David (2019) argued that Nestle’s wrappers
with non-recyclable will be cut down on by 2025 which is stated by this firm.

However, although proponents claim that there is a positive relationship between economic
development and poverty, nothing could be further from the truth. Once economic is in
growth, even for their environmental policies or the purpose of poverty reduction, the
disadvantages of economic growth supposedly outweigh the advantages. A case in point is
