Gastro-intestinaal stelsel
= maag-darm stelsel.

Functies:
1. Peristaltische bewegingen → motoriek; samentrekkingen van de spieren voor voortbeweging.
2. Spijsvertering excretie van veteringssappen en enzymen
3. Endocriene zelfregulatie; homeostase bewaren, geregeld door hormonen. Hormonen komen in de
bloedbaan terecht en komen zo bij hun doelorgaan.
4. Absorptie van substraten

 Peristaltiek
- Voortbewegen van de darminhoud
- Reflexmatig & ritmisch = automatisch en gecoördineerd.
- Samentrekken en ontspannen
- De spieren in het spijsverteringskanaal bestaan uit 2 lagen. Uit circulaire (kringspieren) laag en
longitudinale (lengtespieren) spieren.

Stap 1: Automatische contractie kringspieren → voedselbolus verder geduwd in het
maagdarmkanaal.
Stap 2: Automatische contractie lengtespieren → spijsverteringskanaal op deze
regio
verkort
Stap 3: Contractiegolf agv afwisselen contractie kringspieren en lengtespieren →
duwt de voedselbolus verder




Zowel hormonen als
enzymen spelen een rol bij de spijsvertering

Het spijsverteringskanaal is bedekt met epitheelcellen, omdat het in contact staat met de buitenwereld. Hier
bevinden zich ook kliercellen, vooral te vinden in de mond, maag en duodenum. Dat komt doordat hier de
meeste vertering plaatsvindt.

Endocriene cellen maken hormonen aan. Cellen die in het spijsverteringskanaal hormonen aanmaken,
noemen we entero- endocriene cellen.
