Hypovolemia treatment
Isotonic fluids (zero.Nine% NS) till normotensive then hypotonic fluids (zero.Forty five% NS)
Hyponatremia s/s
- N/V
- Headache
- Confusion
- Seizures
- Lethargy
- Cramps
Hypocalcemia s/s
- Tingling in fingers/ft
- Positive T+C's
- Diarrhea
- Seizures
- Hyperactive reflexes
Hypocalcemia remedy
IV calcium gluconate
- Must be given lying down d/t threat of postural hypotension
Hypercalcemia treatment
- Calcitonin (tone it down)
- IV phosphate
Emphysema
- Loss of lung elasticity and hyperinflation of lung tissue
- Causes destruction of alveoli
Chronic bronchitis
, Inflammation of the bronchi and bronchioles
COPD
Encompasses emphysema and persistent bronchitis
COPD prevention
- Smoking cessation
- Ensure right ventilation around irritants
- Flu + pneumonia vaccines
COPD nursing interventions
- High fowlers
- Suction
- TCDB
- Incentive spirometer
Tension pneumothorax
- Air enters pleural area all through idea but cant exit with expiration
- Puts strain on the heart + lung

An accumulation of blood within the pleural area
Pneumothorax s/s
- Respiratory distress
- Tracheal deviation to unaffected side
- Absent breath sounds on affected aspect
- Sub Q emphysema
Pleural effusion
Abnormal accumulation of fluid in the pleural area
Obstructive sleep apnea s/s
3 S's
- Snoring
