1. Is this research design best described as descriptive, correlational, quasi-experimental, or
experimental? Why? 3 pts content
This research design is best described as descriptive.
One of the key reasons for why this is descriptive is due to the use of a survey that gathered
data using a Likert scale. There is no emphasis on manipulation of variables or
establishing of any relationship between variables.

2. What is the variable of interest? What is its scale of measurement (nominal, ordinal,
interval, or ratio)? 3 pts content
The variable of interest is academic honesty. The scale of measurement being used is
nominal and is conducted using a Likert scale in which 1 represents ‘strongly disagree’ and
5 represents ‘strongly agree’.

3. Enter the data exactly as shown in the table above using SPSS, using the variable names
provided in the column immediately above the data. All variables should be numeric, so
be sure to code sex as a number (you can choose the numbers). 15 pts content / 3 pts
format
• Recode academic honesty questions #2 and 3 so that a score of 1 = 5, 2 = 4, 3 =
3, 4 = 2, and 5 = 1. **Once you recode, rename the variables “AH2R” and
“AH3R”.
• Sum academic honesty (make sure you use the RECODED values and not
the original ones for AH2 and AH3!) and name it “AH_Sum”
• Take a screenshot or “snip” of your DATA VIEW and paste it into the area
provided below. It should be an image that is completely viewable in its entirety
in the window provided. id
o 1 pt per column correctly entered for: ID, Age, Sex, AH1, AH4, and AH5
o 3 pts per AH2R, AH3R, and AH_Sum columns
