DEFINITIONS
Person 541.001(4)** - ANSWER-means an individual, firm, partnership, association, or
corporation
School crossing guard - ANSWER-a responsible person who is at least 18 years of age
and is designated by a local authority to direct traffic in a school crossing zone for the
protection of children going to or leaving a school.
Motor Vehicle - ANSWER-•A self-propelled vehicle or a vehicle that is propelled by
electric power from overhead trolley wires.
The term does not include an electric bicycle, or an electric personal assistive mobility
device as defined by Section 551.201
Passenger car - ANSWER-a motor vehicle, other than a motorcycle, used to transport
persons and designed to accommodate *10 or fewer passengers, including the operator
Bicycle** - ANSWER-means a device that a person may ride and that / s capable of
being ridden solely using human power

Electric Bicycle - ANSWER-•A bicycle:
A.Equipped with:
i.Fully operable pedals; and
ii.An electric motor of fewer than 750 watts; and
B.With a top assisted speed of 28 miles per hour or less.
Bus - ANSWER-a motor vehicle used to transport persons and designed to
accommodate more than 10 passengers, including the operator
Light Truck** - ANSWER-a truck, including a pickup truck, panel delivery truck, or
carryall truck, that has a manufacturer's rated carrying capacity of 2,000 pounds or less

*Truck* - ANSWER-•A motor vehicle designed, used, or maintained primarily to
transport property (do not confuse this with a pickup truck, which would be a motor
vehicle, a vehicle, a passenger car, or a light truck)
, Implement of Husbandry - ANSWER-A.A vehicle, other than a passenger car or truck,
that is designed and adapted for use as a farm implement, machinery, or tool for tilling
the soil
*Farm Tractor* - ANSWER-•Means a motor vehicle designed and used primarily as a
farm implement to draw an implement of husbandry, including a plow or a mowing
machine
Road Tractor - ANSWER-•A motor vehicle designed and used to draw another vehicle
but not constructed to carry a load independently or a part of the weight of the other
vehicle or its load.
**A tractor that can pull another vehicle/trailer but does not carry a load independently
and does not carry part of the weight of the other vehicle it is pulling.
*Special Mobile Equipment* - ANSWER-A vehicle that is not designed or used primarily
to transport persons or property and that is only incidentally operated on a highway
*road construction vehicles
Moped - ANSWER-•A motor vehicle that is equipped with a rider's saddle and designed
to have when propelled not more than three wheels on the ground, that cannot attain a
speed in one mile of more than 30 miles per hour
Motorcycle - ANSWER-•A motor vehicle other than a tractor, that is equipped with a
*rider's saddle* and designed to have when propelled *not more than three* wheels on
the ground.
Motor-driven vehicle - ANSWER-A motorcycle equipped with a motor that has an
engine piston displacement of 250 cubic centimeters or less. The term does not include
an electric bicycle
under 50 moped, 50-250 mdv, over 250 motorcycle
Autocycle - TC 501.008 - ANSWER-Under state law, an autocycle is considered to be a
motorcycle for purposes of registration and headgear requirements. Does not require a
Class M license.
Bus - ANSWER-A motor vehicle used to transport persons and designated to
accommodate more than 10 passengers, including the operator; or
not a taxicab
Multifunction School Activity Bus - ANSWER-school bus without that typical look of a
