SAMPLE SELECTION:
The objective of this task is to select a case-mix stratified sample of facility
residents based on QIs and other offsite + onsite sources of information.
, This is done in order to assess compliance with the resident-centered long
term care requirements.

Standard surveys are based on a sample of residents AND the actual + potential
negative outcomes of care.
This includes a full tour of the facility that measures medical, nursing, and
rehabilitative care.
Surveys may be conducted at any time including weekends, 24 hours a day.
The objectives of information analysis for deficiency determination are as
follows:
- To review and analyze all information collected and to determine whether or
not the facility has failed to meet one or more of the regulatory requirements
- To determine whether to conduct an extended survey
