1-2 Journal: Aging

Sociology Department, Southern New Hampshire University

Soc-328: Sociology of Aging

The topic that stood out to me most was from our discussion post, the question is “Does
your culture/heritage play a role?” Now I had to think about this question because in a way
culture/heritage does play a role, but in values and upbringing and not in aging. I still
believe that age is related to your genetic makeup, but the culture/heritage you are brought
up in does say a

lot about who you are as an individual and whether you continue the traditions or divert
from them. I branched out and started to learn about my culture/heritage and now I
incorporate it into my daily life. I do not believe this will help me age better, but I do believe
it helps me identify who I am.
