 Bone marrow: soft gelatinous tissue - fills spaces in
interior of long and spongy bones
 Types of marrow:
o Red marrow: manufactures different types of blood cells
and hemoglobin
o Yellow marrow: fat and connective tissue; manufactures
blood cells under intense stimulation
o Contains two types of pluripotential stem cells - called the
mother of cells
 Myeloid stem cells differentiate into types of blood cells
 Lymphoid stem cells differentiate into lymphocytes
