Daarom Ilna Stander The reader expects that reasons will be given. Engages and intrigues
reader.
“Profiel” means profile/appearance. Interesting choice of words; sounds
like a WhatsApp/Instagram profile – showcases the influence of social
media. Also refers to how you cannot put a filter on reality.

The mirror is frightened when he sees him; implying he frightens

“Dermatoloog” means dermatologist. He has pimples and acne; the
other teenagers bully him because of it. A “dermatologist’s dream”

work with problematic skin.

He is a huge joke to girls; they tease and laugh at him. He gets no
romantic attention from girls and is not seen as attractive to them.

deure toe (Alliteration): Shows the aggressive and impulsive
14.Intussen donder ek deure toe. teenage behaviour of slamming doors. He is frustrated about
changes (puberty) that are out of his control. The use of the D
consonant creates the sound of a door slamming.
