🎯Target Band: 8.0 – 9.0
📄 Letter Sample 1 – Formal (Requesting Information)
Prompt:
You are planning to move to another country for work. Write a letter to a
relocation agency. In your letter:
● Explain why you are moving
● Ask what services they offer
● Inquire about the cost
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to inquire about your relocation services as I am preparing to move to
Canada for a new employment opportunity. I have recently accepted a position
with a healthcare firm in Toronto and would greatly appreciate assistance in
managing the transition.
Specifically, I would like to know if your agency provides support with finding
temporary housing, handling legal documentation such as work permits, and
arranging airport pickup upon arrival. Additionally, any help with opening a local
bank account or registering for healthcare would be highly valuable.
Could you please send me a brochure or detailed information about your service
packages and the associated costs? I would also appreciate knowing if there are any
discounted rates for corporate-sponsored relocations.

I look forward to your response.
Yours faithfully,
Daniel Mutua
📄 Letter Sample 2 – Semi-Formal (Apology)
Prompt:
You missed an important meeting at work. Write a letter to your manager. In your
letter:
● Apologize for missing the meeting
● Explain why you missed it
● Say what you will do to catch up
Dear Mr. Singh,
I would like to sincerely apologize for not attending the department meeting held
on Tuesday morning. I understand that the discussion included several critical
updates, and I deeply regret missing it.
Unfortunately, I experienced an unexpected car breakdown on my way to the
office. Despite my efforts to arrange alternative transportation, I was unable to
arrive on time. I notified the reception desk immediately but still missed the entire
session.
To ensure I am up to date, I have already contacted two colleagues who attended
the meeting and taken notes on the decisions made. I will also review any emailed
summaries and would be happy to schedule a quick one-on-one with you if needed.
Thank you for your understanding, and I assure you it will not happen again.
