1. Analyse the Scenario:

o Identify the key organizational behaviour issues and their impact on the
college’s performance.

Introduction

Bright Futures College is facing many serious problems that affect how well the
institution performs. These problems include fewer students joining and staying,
poor academic results, departments not working together, staff who don’t want
to change, and teaching that is outdated. To solve these problems, it is important
to understand what is wrong with the way the college works internally. This essay
looks at the key organisational behaviour issues, how they affect the college, and
how leadership and change theories can help fix them. The goal is to improve
performance, create a better working environment, and make the college a
leader in modern education.

Organisational behaviour (OB) is the study of how people behave in organisations
(Robbins & Judge, 2019, p. 5). At Bright Futures College, five major OB problems
are hurting the college:

Declining Enrolment and Retention

The number of students joining and staying at the college is going down. This
could be because students do not find the college attractive, or they do not feel
supported. According to Robbins and Judge (2019, p. 29), when students do not
feel like they belong or are not motivated, they are likely to drop out. This affects
income and reputation.

Poor Academic Performance and Graduation Rates

, Many students are not doing well and are not graduating. This is a sign that the
learning environment is not effective. When students struggle academically, it
reflects badly on the college and may be due to poor teaching methods, lack of
support, or outdated curricula (DuBrin, 2016, p. 212).

Siloed Organisational Culture

Departments are working alone instead of together. This is known as a “siloed
culture.” It leads to poor communication, duplication of work, and missed
opportunities for innovation (McShane & Von Glinow, 2018, p. 102). When people
do not share ideas or collaborate, the college becomes less efficient and less
creative.

Resistance to Change

Many staff members do not want to change their old ways of doing things. This is
a common problem in many organisations. Resistance to change can stop
progress and makes it hard to introduce new systems or ideas (Kotter, 2012, p.
23).

Lack of Innovation in Curriculum and Teaching

Teaching at the college is still based on old methods. There is little use of new
technology or modern teaching styles. In the 21st century, students expect
interactive, practical, and tech-based learning (Fullan, 2001, p. 17). Without
innovation, the college cannot compete with other institutions.
