- Example primary clay: china clay (very pure).

- Example secondary clay: clay run-off by water (impurities).

* Greenware: unfired clay.

* Slip: clay glue.

* Leather hard: still have some give. Middle ground.

* Bone dry: completely dry. Inside may still be wet.

* Bisque ware: fired clay. Ceramic.

* Stains: oxides and other chemicals ground and fired together.

* Underglaze: colored glaze.

* Glaze: clear coat that goes over the underglaze.

* Soft brick: modern, soft, and fragile.

* Hard brick: older, less efficient than soft brick.

* Kiln elements: heating coil inside kiln. Made out of nichrome.

* Kiln post: made out of clay or silicon carbide.



* Cone. Each cone melts at different temperatures.
