As a new bachelorette nurse, knowing how to assess the credibility of evidence and
resources protects you from the negative impacts of false or misleading information. Today, with
the vast amount of information available online, it is very confusing and frustrating to know
which source of information is correct. The Internet has transformed how we access information,
but it has also made it more challenging to assess the reliability of that information. (Breakstone
et al., 2022). Evaluating the credibility of the evidence and resources is essential because it
ensures that new nurses rely on accurate and trustworthy sources in their practice. It guarantees
that your work, opinions, and decisions are informed, reliable, and evidence-based. In this paper,
we will discuss on the factors used to assess the credibility of sources, evaluate the importance of
relevant evidence in treating Myocardial Infarction, and examine how the JHNEBP Model
contributes to effective decision-making in healthcare.
Criteria for Determining Credibility
As mentioned previously, assessing the credibility of evidence and resources is essential.
So, how can we tell if the source we are reading about MI is reliable? It is important to go
through the Peer-reviewed resources. The articles that are peer-reviewed are considered credible
because they are thoroughly examined by experts who evaluate the accuracy, validity, and
significance of the research or information. This process ensures they are dependable sources for
academic and professional purposes. Information from the last five years is typically more
trustworthy as it reflects the most up-to-date content. In fields such as science and research,
advancements and discoveries happen rapidly, so newer sources tend to be more accurate and
relevant. (Sye & Thompson, 2023) points out that websites with the .edu and .gov domains are
