- Location: Dipylon cemetery, Athens, Greece
- Period of Art: Geometric
- Materials: painted abstract angular and figural
motifs in horizontal bands, made of terracotta
(type of clay)

○ It is a grave marker
▪ The painting depict the mourning for a
man
○ The bottom is open (so everything that is
poured inside can be drained)

a goddess but perhaps the

○ She is a votive offering statue
representing a goddess wearing four
garments
○ Held the identifying attribute in her
missing left hand

• Statues begin to look more natural, still a bit
idealized but have more flesh and are in the
nude
○ Has more volume and is more realistic
• For the deceased, it is also a grave marker
• Hair is curly at the top

- Location: Basilica, Paestum, Italy
- Period of Art: Archaic
- Materials: used limestone and mudbrick to built
- Notes:
• No columns in the middle only around the outside of the temple
• It is a doric order temple
