The American healthcare system has gone through continuous changes over the years of
innovations and technology, but it still faces many different issues and barriers. Healthcare
administration is at the forefront of helping solve these issues. They must be able to make
evidence-based decisions that will help contribute to the improvements within the healthcare
system (Polgar & Thomas, 2019). One significant issue that demands attention is the integration
and utilization of Electronic Health Records (EHRs). The adoption of EHRs has transformed the
healthcare landscape, presenting both opportunities and challenges for healthcare administrators.
The purpose of this paper will be to explain the healthcare administration issue, describe the
stakeholders impacted by the issues, explain the problem's relevance to healthcare
administration, explain the role of healthcare and science research, describe the role of
healthcare and science research in resolving the problem, and present two quantitative articles in
support of the topic
Health Care Administration Issue
The management and integration of electric health records are causing an issue in many
health organizations. “Electronic Health Records (EHRs) are systemized collections of patient
health information and documentation, collected in real-time, and stored in a digital format” (Lee
et al., 2020). The implementation and use of EHRs have raised several challenges for healthcare
administrators, such as data security concerns, interoperability issues, cost implications, and the
learning curve for healthcare professionals. These barriers can hinder the efficient operation of
healthcare facilities and potentially compromise patient care. A common issue that needs to be
addressed in electronic health records is security and privacy. “Security is defined as the level at
which accessing someone's personal information is restricted and allowed for those authorized
