I. Torso or urinary models
A. Renal artery and vein
B. Kidney (includes hilum and capsule)
C. Renal pelvis
D. Ureter
E. Urinary bladder
1. Fundus
2. Body
3. Neck
4. Trigone
5. Detrusor muscle
6. Internal urethral sphincter (smooth muscle)
7. External urethral sphincter (skeletal muscle)
F. Urethra
1. In males: prostatic, membranous and spongy (penile) urethra
2. External urethral orifice
II. Kidney models:
A. Renal capsule (outermost layer of kidney, do not confuse with glomerular capsule)
B. Cortex
C. Medulla
1. Renal pyramid
2. Papilla of pyramid
3. Renal column
4. Nephron (since these are microscopic, know where they would be located)
D. Renal sinus
1. Urine drainage vessels
i. Minor calyx (calyces — pleural)
ii. Major calyx
iii. Renal pelvis
iv. Ureter
III. Trace the blood flow as it travels in and out of the kidney
