5. Encourage a fully conscious patent to drink warm, non- alcoholic, non- cafeinated liquids - ANSWER-
treatment for hypothermia



1. If safe to do so, remove the patent from the source of the poison.

8. If the eye area experiences poisoning, follow procedures for eye trauma. - ANSWER-To treat a patent
with poisoning:



1. If the injury is spurtng blood, apply direct pressure using wound packing to the artery. You will remain
in this positon untl EMS arrives based on scene safety.

2. If the injury is a deep laceraton, cover the wound with an occlusive dressing (air and water tght
dressing), followed with a bandage.

3. If the injury is oozing blood, apply enough pressure to stop bleeding while maintaining an open airway
and spinal motion restriction. - ANSWER-To treat a patient with an open neck wound:



1. If there is arterial bleeding or spurting blood, you may need eye protection.

2. For a complete or partial amputation of a limb, apply a tourniquet "high and tight" above the wound,
not over a joint, even if there is not currently any bleeding, as such bleeding may develop later.

3. If the amputation involves fingers or toes, apply direct pressure; a tourniquet is not needed.

4. Do not delay the patent's treatment or transport to look for the amputated part. - ANSWER-To treat a
