Interdisciplinary Plan Proposal
During my previous interview with Anna, RN, regarding concerns she had with her unit
at her hospital, it was clear that there is a lack of communication between the nurses and health
techs who work on the medical/surgical/telemetry floor. The problem is multi-faceted in that it
involves communication and possible retraining to ensure that everyone is working to the top of
their scope in order to ensure the best possible patient care.
Objective
, The interdisciplinary plan proposal will hopefully establish a framework for the health
techs to know their roles. It will also help to form a more team-like atmosphere in the unit
between nurses and techs to achieve better patient outcomes. The objective achieved will have
the unit be cohesive, with the techs feeling more equal and the patients getting the care needed.
Improved communication and established roles will improve patient safety. (Campbell et al.,

Questions and Predictions
1. Who will be involved in the interdisciplinary plan?
The main stakeholders will need to be the Registered Nurses and Health Techs. It
would also benefit everyone to involve the unit's nursing management and the already
established Unit Based Council .
2. How will improving communication between nurses and techs on the floor improve
patient care?
When nurses and techs are not communicating what needs to be completed with
patient care or what has been done there is a high likelihood that the care will not be
completed or will not be appropriate.
